Stories of Giving

As a new part of this Blog, the co-conspirators would like to, occasionally, list stories, resources, donation opportunities and examples of web pages dealing with giving and its joys. While we endorse none of these sites, especially the ones to which donations can be made, we do wish to encourage donating (especially anonymous donating) as a way of benefitting others and as a way of bringing joy into your own life. Check them out, then find a way to give. You will not regret it. Please also send us stories and sites which you have found inspiring or useful. The story may be of something in which you participated or someone else's experience or a web site with a particularly great set of giving links. Please leave your story or resource as a comment in our comments section. We will review them and post those which are most appropriate. Bureaucratic Kindness An angry young man finds, in a stranger’s kindness, a new life. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-12043294 The boomerang Effect Amazing TED talk: How happiness comes from giving, not getting. http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_norton_how_to_buy_happiness.html Kids’ Time Layaway for children paid by anonymous donors. http://news.yahoo.com/anonymous-donors-pay-strangers-layaway-accounts-081530125.html classroom Giving This site brings together teachers and their classrooms with potential donors to projects in their classrooms. A teacher submits a plan for a project in a number of categories. Donors can give all or part of the money required for the project. www.Donorschoose.org
